Tie perfect hackles and evenly spaced ribs! How? With the Carbide Rotary Vise.
Many new tiers have trouble tying hackles. This is primarily caused by having to wrap the hackle around the hook while providing constant tension, but not too much tension or the hackle stem will break. In addition, the wraps of hackle must be placed very precisely so that they lie close to the previous wrap without overlapping. A rotary vise allows the hackle to be tied in like normal, but rather than wrapping the hackle around the hook, the entire hook is rotated and the material is held still. This makes providing the correct tension much easier, and the exact position of the hackle is seen at all times because it is not being wrapped around the back side of the hook.
The Carbide Rotary vise also makes tying evenly spaced ribs a breeze for the same reasons that it makes tying hackles easier.
The Carbide Rotary Vise is the ultimate in fly tying tying vises. It has all of the features of much more expensive vises, plus some features not found on any other vise. Expect a lifetime of hook holding power from the tungsten carbide tipped jaws which will not deform like regular steel jaws can.
