Recently, there has been a rise in the popularity of fly fishing for large, carnivorous fish. Musky, barracuda, pike and roosterfish are big, mean, apex predators; some are sight-casting quarry, while others require hours of painstaking blind casting. To chase these big fish, you need a powerful rod that can cast long distances, handle bushy, air-resistant flies and put up with extreme punishment.

Designed by Blane Chocklett with the hardcore angler in mind, the Esox series of predator rods utilizes our proprietary TiCr blank coating, which helps protect the rod from the occasional collision with a weighted fly or gunnel. Throw in our proprietary Tactical Series™ guides and you’ve got a rod that is as tough as the predators you are chasing. The non-glare chestnut colored blank features a modified full-wells grip and an extended, IGFA-compliant fighting butt for picking up and casting large flies and heavy line.

"The Esox rod has everything you want in a rod designed for chucking big flies to predatory fish. Superb durability, plenty of power for long casts and a composite cork grip to reduce grip wear and failure–meaning no more split cork from casting all day long. The two-part grip system allows you to adjust your hand position to make casting big flies much easier throughout a long day on the water.””

RPM – ROD PERFORMANCE MATRIX
This formula will help you select the right rod for exactly how and where you’re fishing.

We have a rod to handle virtually every fishing scenario. Our Rod Performance Matrix helps you easily select the rod most suitable for the kind of fishing you’re doing, by numerically charting each of the three key elements our rods are designed around: Presentation, Distance and Lifting.

Presentation is the accuracy and manner in which the fly and leader land in the water.
Distance, as you probably guessed, signifies how far you can deliver the fly.
Lifting indicates the rod’s primary function in the fish-fighting phase, lifting power.
