More Information
Books on West & Central Africa are, in our opinion, some of the most interesting in all of African hunting because the conditions are often so much more difficult than elsewhere on that continent. The author started out in West Cameroon when he was asked to shoot a man-killing elephant. From this start, he became a PH & started guiding in the Cameroon, east & west as well as north & south. This fascinating read takes us on hunts for an elephant with a corkscrew tusk to a rogue gorilla to a bullfrog that weighed about ten pounds?no kidding! After leaving Cameroon, Grasselli settled in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) where he was till just before that country?s independence. There we find him in pursuit of a huge tusked elephant, one that we did not think existed in Zimbabwe, as well as magnificent lion. Then, in the third part of the book, Grasselli arrives in the C.A.R. in 1979 where he devotes his time to the pursuit of large tuskers & hunting for eland & bongo; there?s even a story on the capture of live giant eland. Finally, we land up in Zambia where the author hunts once again for glamour game such as sable & buffalo. The stories are not kill & kill some more, but rather they are the highlights of a most fascinating life?one that comes from being decades in Africa living & hunting in various countries. An interesting read.
