ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Michael D. Echanis was one of the world's best-known weapons and close-quarters combat experts. A senior instructor for the U.S. Army Special Forces/Ranger Hand-to-Hand Combat/Special Weapons School, Echanis was well-known for the practical approach to CQC that he brought to the U.S. military. Privately tutored by the founder of the World Hwa Rang Do Association, Echanis was the first American to be ranked as a sulsa in hwa rang do. He served as the martial arts editor for Soldier of Fortune magazine from 1974?1976. Echanis died in 1978 when the helicopter he was in crashed in Nicaragua.
