ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
George Poveromo is a Senior Editor with Salt Water Sportsman Magazine and a world renowned angling authority. His in depth knowledge of marine angling techniques is the result of an insatiable passion for fishing that developed at an early age. The South Florida native has fished along the entire U.S. coast, as well as in Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, Mexico and the Baja, the Bahamas, Grand Canary Island, and numerous Caribbean, central and south American destinations. He continues his world wide pursuit of game fish for Salt Water Sportsman, and his expertise is also reflected in his monthly Tactics & Tackle column for the publication. He's also in demand as a consultant for several major marine manufacturers. Poveromo is an active member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, Southeast Outdoor Press Association, and Boating Writers International. He's also a member of the Coastal Conservation Association of Florida and the IGFA.
George Poveromo is a leader in educating the fishing community on the fine art of sportfishing and conservation. In addition to his writings, he's the producer and Host of the immensely popular Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series. This annual, eight stop, nation wide tour on marine sportfishing techniques has been in existence for over 12 years. George has recently released his own how to sportfishing videos, dubbed the Signature Series. His first three titles: George Poveromo's Successful Dolphin Tactics, George Poveromo's Guide to Successful Offshore Bait Rigging, and David Justice's Successful Snook Tactics, are among the most informative how to tapes in existence.
Specializing in light tackle fishing, offshore trolling, and live baiting, George developed a national reputation as an accomplished angler at an early age. In the January, 1983, issue of Motor Boating & Sailing Magazine, he was featured as one of the top eight anglers in the world at age 23! He was one of only two small boat anglers receiving this honor! Aboard his Mako 28 foot center console, MARC VI, he fishes off the South Florida coast and in the Bahamas. Regarded primarily as a reef and offshore authority, he's equally adept inshore. His most impressive inshore catch to date is a 30 pound snook taken on 8 pound class tackle. His largest offshore fish to date is an estimated 900 pound class blue marlin he released off Costa Rica.
